Lake Catholic Track and Field will be well represented at this year’s Indoor State Track Meet which will be held at Spire Institute in Geneva after a long run at the University of Akron.
In Girls Division 2/3, junior Chloe Keating will be Lake’s lone female running at States, competing in the 60M, 200M, and 400M sprints. In the 400M, she boasts the 8th fastest time in the state with a 1:00.53 that she earned at the All Star Meet just over a week ago. There are several girls near her time so there is a great opportunity for a PR. She owns 12th fastest time in the 60M with a 8.05 seconds and her 26.93 in the 200M is the 15th fastest time in the state.
In Boys Division 1, Lake will feature some outstanding athletes. Junior Del’Mario Hairston will be competing in several events. In the Long Jump, for which is he is most well known, he is currently ranked 2nd in the state with his jump of 23’ 6.5”, just 3.5 inches shy of Quincy Scott from Springfield High. He will also be competing in the 200M and is ranked 15th at 22.67, just .67 behind the fastest time by Luke Finnegan of Westerville Central. He’s also tied for 11th fastest in Ohio for the 60m with a 7.03, just .25 behind Ronald Lee of Euclid. In the 400M he’s 16th with a 50.90, roughly 1.6 seconds behind the State’s leader, Yario Soto of Centerville. This will be Del’Mario’s second trip to Indoor States.
Senior Matt Kirchner will is running for the first time at Indoor States and will be competing in the 1600m. His best time this season is 4:27.29 which he ran at Spire Showcase. Arjun Jha leads the competitive field but Matt has all runners within his sights and has been improving throughout the season and is poised for a good showing.
