Lake Heats Up Cold Kenston Relays

Original

Mother nature did not smile upon the teams gathered to run at the Kenston Relays in early April. Starting with a temperature around 43 and strong winds finished with a temperature of 35 with stronger winds and snow and rain. All and all a miserable day for a track meet. However, that didn't deter Lake Catholic's team. Despite the elements, they had some memorable performances.

The girls team was headlined by several strong showings. The Spring Medley team of Kennedy Rieple, Carmyn Cremonese, Grace Mohr and Chloe Keating took 1st place, capped with an EPIC Chloe rundown of Kenston at the end of the final leg (400M). The 4x800 team of Mohr, Keating, Emma Petro, & Ali Hudik took a solid 3rd place with their 11:40. Cremonese also took 2nd place in Long Jump. Overall, the girls took 6th.

The boys Sprint Medley, not to be outdone by the girls team, also took 1st place. The team of D.J. Griffus, Robert Morgan, Kevin Conley, & Del'Mario Hairston beat Kenston by nearly a second. That same team also ran the 4x100 and took 2nd by only .8 sec. The distance relay team of Alex Hansel, Landyn Miller, Christian Demitro, & Matt Kirchner took 2nd with an 11:37.95. Hairston continued his Long Jump Dominance, placing 1st with his 20' 10". Sean Jones finished 3rd in the discus, throwing 115'. The 4x1600 team of Kirchner, Hansel, and the dynamic DeMitro brothers took 4th. Overall, the boys took 4th.
