Cougar Track Team with a Strong Performance at Trinity

The Lake Catholic Track and Field team went into the Trinity Invitational on Friday determined to compete well. They departed with two top 5 finishes.

The girls, powered by a pair of 1st place finishes and a 2nd place showing by Chloe Keating were able to come away with the 3rd best team score at the meet. Chloe ran a spirited 100M and 200M to take 1st place. Grace Mohr had an EPIC final 100M in her 800M race, passing 3 girls to finish 3rd. Kati Druzina, in her first outdoor meet of the season, showed outstanding speed in finishing 2nd in the 100M and 3rd in the 200M. The girls 4x400 team of Keating, Mohr, Druzina & Emma Petro took a solid 4th place. In the field events, Marshai Cooper continued her strong throwing performance to finish 4th in both the Shot and the Discus. Elaine Szep also took a 3rd place finish in the Pole Vault.

The boys team, riding on the shoulders of seniors Kevin Conley and DJ Griffus, took home 5th place. DJ Griffus was tough in the 100M finishing 3rd. Conley, celebrating his 18th birthday, finished 2nd in the 200M and 4th in the 100M. The 4x100 team of Conley/Griffus/Robert Morgan/Nate Reiple took home 4th place as did the 4x200 team of Conley/ Reiple/Vincenzo Patriarca/Landyn Miller. Christian DeMitro took 5th place in the 1600 and the boys 4x800 team also finished 5th in a competitive field. In field events, significant performances were turned in by Cyncere Watkins in high jump (3rd place) and Phil Kuhn in pole vault (6th place).
