The morning might have started cool and crisp but things heated up in a hurry when Lake Catholic's Cross Country started running at the 4th Annual Frank Gibas Cross Country Invitational held at Kenston High School. In a hotly contested meet against some of the state's best teams, Lake Catholic proved that they belong. Coming into the meet, Solon and Kenston's boys teams were ranked in the top 15 in the state and Lake's boys gave them everything they can handle finishing in 3rd place.
Lake's boys were once again paced by Jacob Keating who ran a Lake Catholic record 15:12 (besting the ~20 year old mark by 16 seconds) and also beat the meet record by over 20 seconds. He was neck and neck with Solon's Joe Riordan until near the finish when his kick carried him to win by 2 seconds. Colin "Vaddie" Waddle (9th) and Matt "KirchBirch" Kirchner (12th) rounded out Lake's top 3. All of the boys had a PR today! Congrats Jacob, Colin, Matt, Keller, Alex, Josh, Brian, Connor & Ben.
Lake's Girls had another great showing and finished 11th in a tough field of 16 teams. Seniors Erin Ward and Abbey Rojeck helped and pushed each other during a fast girls race and finished with a virtual 36th place tie at 21:00.5. Maisie Crowley rounded out the girls' top 3 with 67th place and a time of 22:04.7. Congrats to Erin, Chloe, Remi and Jaylah who all had a PR!Link to full results on Baums: http://www.baumspage.com/cc/ccevent.php?peventid=190&table=C
