    Lake Catholic with Another Strong Performance at Willoughby South


    Lake Catholic brought their “A Game” to the Willoughby South Invitational. The boys took 2nd place behind Mentor, powered by some dominant performances. Connor Duricky finished 1st in the 110m hurdles with a 14.40, almost a full second ahead of the 2nd place finisher, Gladieux, from Whitmer. He also took 1st place in the 300m hurdles with his 39.65, again a full second faster than the 2nd place finisher. He also anchored the winning 4x400m team with Mike Malchesky, Christian Demitro, & Josh Lazanich who combined for a 3:29.64. Jacob Keating, not to be outdone, leaned out a victory over Whitmer’s Cousino in the 1600m with a 4:26.57. He also set a PR in the 800m, running practically alone to a 1:57.


    Other scoring performances:

    • Darrius Alston    took 4th place in the 200m with his 23.70
    • Josh Lazanich took 3rd in the 800m with his 2:04.86
    • Mike Malchesky took 5th in the 400m with his 52.90
    • Matt Kirchner took 4th in the 3200m with a 9:46.66
    • Keller Dittoe took 7th in the 3200m with a 10:06.60
    • The 4x100 team of Morgan, Alston, Hufgard and Demitro took 3rd with a 45.89
    • The 4x200 team of Demitro, Alston, Malchesky and Duricky took 2nd with their 1:33.67
    • The 4x800 team of Lazanich, Dittoe, Kirchner, Waddle took 3rd place with their 8:31.97
    • Daymond Hale tied for 6th in the high jump with a 5-10.00 and 7th in the long jump with his 18-07.00


    The shorthanded girls team finished 9th but saw a strong performance by Abbey Rojeck who had PR’s in both the 1600m and the 3200m. She also took 5th in the 1600m with her 5:35.90 and 4th in the 3200m with her 11:53.59.
