    Lake Catholic Rocks Trinity Invitationals!

The Lake Catholic Track Team put on quite a show at Friday night’s chilly Trinity Invitational held at Bedford High School. How dominant of a display was it?

Well, the boys team finished 1st with 151 points edging out Hoban by over 46 points. There were only 3 events in which they didn’t score a point and they tallied 16 top 5 finishes. Some of the outstanding performances were Connor Duricky who took first place in every event in which he participated including a 14.42 in the 110M hurdles, a meet record 39.94 in the 300M hurdles, and the 4x200 and 4x400M relays.

Jacob Keating also finished 1st in both of his events, running away with the 3200M with a time of  9:32.15.  He also finished first in the 4x800 relay along with Demitro, Kirchner & Lazanich with their 8:10.92. It’s also notable that this was frosh Christian Demitro’s first time running in an 800 at an invitational and he only brought the team to first in his leg of the relay.

Del’Mario Hairston, who was finally eligible to compete with the team (due to his transfer last fall) had an excellent inaugural outdoor meet by winning the long jump with a 22’ 5”, finishing 2nd in the 100 by 0.01 with his 11.13 and finishing first in the 200M with a time of 22.98. The 4x200M relay team of Hairston, Demitro, Duricky and Alston finished first with a 1:32.71.

The girls team finished 2nd with 89.33 points.  Impressively, every event that they entered they scored at least a point including 12 top 5 finishes. Erin Ward ran away with the 800M running a PR of 2:26.58. She was also on the 4x400 relay team along with Cvelbar, Keating & Taraska that took 2nd place with their 4:23.05. Abby Roject ran a PR of 11:51.51 to outdistance the competition in the 3200M, good enough to take 1st place. She also took 2nd in her 1600M with her 5:38.89. The Lilija Taraska had a field day (literally) finishing 1st in the long jump (15’ 5”) and 2nd in the shot (33’ 3.75”). Her sister, Silvija, made her mark on the meet by finishing 2nd in the discus (105’ 7”) and running a strong leg in the girls 2nd place 4x400M relay team which also included Ward, Cvelbar & Keating.
